It appears that the powers that be will have ANGC running fast and firm this week. Absent of any inclement weather to soften it up, the Champion should come from the group of players with the most controllable game, and, of course, the great putters. Look out for Webb Simpson, who hits it plenty far, straight, and can putt lights-out. Everyone’s arch-nemesis, Patrick Reed, should figure as well. And you can’t count out the resurgent Jordan Spieth, arriving with great confidence. From the Euro arena, I think Lee Westwood has a chance to contend, with his recent form and history of playing well here figured in. But I’m taking Paul Casey, a bloke who appears to have a care-free attitude and great striking skills in his arsenal. If the course dries out and the winds blow, that attitude will come in handy.
