Started golf later in life after being cut from the high school baseball team, then started working at a public golf course in my home town. From there went to caddy and work in the bagroom at The Tuxedo Club. It was there when I decided to get into the golf business as a assistant golf pro. Spent 15 years in the MET PGA Section then went back an forth between the Philly and NJ sections. Currently I serve as the lead golf instructor at FOX HOLLOW GC in Branchburg, NJ and Golf Galaxy located in East Hanover, NJ. Fox Hollow is a hilly 18 hole golf course with many small GREEN complex. Golf Galaxy is your home for golf instruction and getting fitted for your existing and new golf equipment.
How old were you when you got started in golf and what eventually pulled you into becoming a golf professional?
Started playing golf at the age of 18 years old at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, NY. Became a golf pro after qualifying for 2 Met Amateurs in 1995.
How do you stay current with the latest developments in teaching methods?
Staying current with golf instruction requires me to go onto Instagram or YouTube and or the Golf Channel. But, when the new normal comes back I have plans to visit certain instructors.
Do you specialize in teaching any facets of the game?
Don’t specialize in anything, but since I have had the opportunity to work a lot of Short Game instructors this part of golf excites me the most when teaching. Still today many people do not consider on improving this part of golf. It was part of my presentation to gain my membership as a PGA member.
What’s the most exciting thing on the horizon for you personally or professionally?
The most exciting for me already happen in golf when I had the opportunity to caddy for both Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus at The Lost Tree Club. I also met my wife caddying for her 10 years ago.
Any advice for someone considering pursuing a career as a golf teaching professional?
Golf is great way to meet so many different people, be open minded, seek out the best in any industry, never stop learning, ask a to questions everyday, play in tournaments, do your research from job to job.
