Old Head in Ireland

The best international course that I played was Old Head in Ireland. This is an absolute “MUST DO” for any golfer as the golf course is laid out on a peninsula that has some of the most breathtaking views of the ocean that I have ever seen. The golf course was both challenging and enjoyable.

The local people in Ireland made this trip something I will remember for life as they are so friendly and accommodating. We went with 8 guys and hired a private driver and played 7 different courses in 7 days. I highly recommend Old Head and a golf trip to southern Ireland!

Casa de Campo Golf Resort in the Dominican Republic

Casa de Campo Golf Resort in the Dominican Republic, La Romana, is the most beautiful golf resort anyone could ever go to. It is a gorgeous tropical oasis hosing world-class golf, first class resort service and incredibly delicious food. The accommodations are outstanding and the staff is out of this world. The Teeth of The Dog and Dye Fore golf courses are absolutely spectacular. I love going to the Dominican Republic to visit Casa De Campo and I assure you that when you go, you will have an experience that you will never forget!

Pete Dye designed Casa de Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic

I have always held Pete Dye designed Casa de Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic as two of the most challenging and beautiful courses that I have played. The “Teeth of the Dog” course in particular, has a home that belonged to Pete Dye. It also had a residence for the late fashion designer, Oscar de la Renta. The seaside setting for four of the holes gave you the fresh salt air breeze adding to the experience. I will never forget the air strip that ran along the 9th fairway when de la Renta’s airplane landed.

Aroostook Valley Country Club in Four Falls Maine

The best International golf course to me is the Aroostook Valley Country Club in Four Falls Maine. The course and club house is in Canada, and the Pro Shop is in the United States. What a unique place, so beautiful and full of history. You can stand on the International boundary line and have one foot in Canada and one in the USA.

Banff Lodge Golf Course

Up in Canada, Banff Lodge Golf Course is just incredible. The scenery makes you not care whether you are shooting 100 or 70. The entire area of that part of Canada is just a pleasure and the people are so nice up there. Would highly recommend this course and area to any golfer of any skill level. Just perfect.

Mission Hills Shenzhen China

Easy answer, Mission Hills Shenzhen China is a twelve-course 18-hole championship course golf resort, located in the town of Guanlan in Shenzhen, between the cities of Shenzhen and Dongguan. It was accredited as the world’s largest golf facility by the Guinness World Records in 2004, surpassing the Pinehurst Resort in the United States.

The Old Head of Kinsale

The Old Head of Kinsale was the most unique and great golf facility I have played. Set in the South East Ocean village of Kinsale Ireland this golf course is built on a “island” on the coast surrounded by Druid ruins.

Royal Guernsey

Over the last eight years I have worked one month a year for Crystal Cruise lines. I have played tough courses all over the United States and Europe. Just off the coast of London is a golf course called Royal Guernsey . Golf course opened in 1895 and it has archaeological findings dating back to 200 BC, lookout towers built by Napoleon to guard the island and finally remnants of the German occupation during World War 2.

The golf course is a true links golf course and you can only walk the course. Gorse on both sides of the fairway and a fantastic test of golf. It is private however they are receptive to guests from the US. An amazing adventure for 18 holes and not very expensive.

'The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe' in California

The best golf course I’ve ever played is ‘The Bridges at Rancho Santa Fe’ in California. In addition to having greens as smooth and manicured as the felt of a billiards table, each hole is its own visual masterpiece.

Each tee box is a perfect rectangle, cut tight, and precisely level. The fairways, plush and verdant are sculpted in accordance with the topography – no bulldozing required!

The clubhouse is a labyrinthine mansion that oozes charm and style.

The staff is warm, accommodating, and always ready to be of assistance!
